First generation American, Caribbean Queer artist Melody Pineda (She/They), uses mixed media to metaphorically envision their relationship with identity & its influences in the context of their work. Themes of The American Dream, Nostalgia, and community, frequently surface within their art and practice. These narratives are tools to connect the ongoing realities intrinsic to white supremacy and it’s institutions, to visualize the multifaceted oppression of marginalized communities.
